- Sports for Development Program – “Giving Girls a Sporting Chance in Life”
Youth and Women for Opportunities Uganda (YWOU), in partnership with FIFA Foundation, is currently implementing a 6-month project titled “Giving Girls a Sporting Chance in Life” from June to December 2023 in eastern Uganda’s Teso region. This transformative initiative aims to engage marginalized girls in education using football as a tool for empowerment and to promote the importance of education, particularly in STEM fields.
Giving Girls a Sporting Chance in Life Project Objectives:
- Engaging Marginalized Girls: The program uses football as a means to reach and engage 1000 marginalized girls in the Teso region, creating a safe and inclusive space for their participation in sports and education-related activities.
- Sensitizing on Education Importance: Through sports, the project sensitizes girls on the significance of education, encouraging them to pursue academic excellence and envision a future filled with possibilities.
- STEM Mentorship: The program provides mentorship opportunities in STEM fields by pairing successful female mentors from the industry with mentees, inspiring and guiding them towards STEM-related careers.
